Our in-house tester used this bivy on a 6 day Sierra ski tour and found it to be an incredible lightweight bivy shelter. The tester was using the bivy under the Black Diamond Megamid Designed for cold weather bivys or as a sleeping bag cover providing extra warmth and water resistance, the Winter Bivy is a super lightweight sack made of an extremely water-resistant (yet breathable) silicone encapsulated nylong fabric called Epic by Nextec. This bivy sack would be adequate in short thundershowers, light rain, or wet snow; in warm summer weather it can be used as a sleeping bag without the down. The Winter Bivy is amazingly lightweight and packs down so small that it can be carried in the pocket of an anorak. Zipper entry across the shoulders provides protection on those "delightful" sitting bivies. Size: 216 cm L x 180 cm W (85" L x 71" W) Weight: 255 g (9 oz.)
