Great product for its price. Features are very useful even for an amatuer hiker. The compass and altimeter are nice and the barameter is handy when you're far from shelter.

handy gadget but....

3.0 / 5.0

Having an altimeter, compass, thermometer, stopwatch, clock, and barometer all-in-one seems handy enough. The unit seems to work well with one exception; the instructions say it may take 3 hours for the barometer/altimeter to correct itself after flight.

My unit was delivered by air, and when it arrived the pressure reading was a full 3 inHg below the local weather station (reading 27" rather than 30"). It took not 3 hours but a WEEK for it to slowly creep up so that now it reads about 0.3" below the local station. Not sure how confident I am with it's minute-to-minute variation, and since it calculates altitude from this I wouldn't be skydiving with it...

It Works!

This is just as described. It really works and it is not hard to operate.

I just had the worst energy bar. I don't know why I still buy this crap. I've heard that you're better off hauling Snickers bars than the overpriced REI food so I decided to find out. Mark Twight ( soooo dreamy) suggests consuming 200 Cal per hour while mountaineering in order to replenish depleted glycogen stores and avoid hitting the wall. Ideally 60-70% of this should come from carbs and the remainder from fat and protein. Here's the breakdown: Snickers Weight: 58.7g 280 Cal 14g

Street Judgment, good or bad? Tips on employment.

Homes for Heroes is looking for some help. What kind of help you ask? Well it is simple really. We have a long list and since it is the Christmas season, a list seems appropriate. As you look through the list you will see that we are not going after big buck items mostly volunteer time to get the word out. Homes for Heroes and the Homes for Heroes Foundation is hoping to make an impact on the housing needs of our Police, Firefighters, Soldiers and First Responders. Getting them into their dream
