Customer Reviews
An excellent choice for a first timer

I bought these poles to take on a long hiking/backpacking trip through South America. I choose this particular model because 1) they are highly rated on backpacking/hiking gear web sites 2) they are ultralight and I didn't want a lot of weight in my pack when I'm not using them, 3) they are mid-range in terms of price. Never having used poles seriously I didn't want anything too cheap, nor did I want to pay twice the price for high-end poles that I might not like using.
This was an excellent purchase. The poles are really light (they add minimal weight to my pack when they are not in use), they appear to be very strong (I'm the wrong side of 200lbs) and the grips are very comfortable. With time and more experience I might consider more expensive poles, but I doubt it. Paying twice the price brings minimal reductions in weight - I'm not competing in anything, I don't think I'd notice the difference.
Highly recommend these as a first set of hiking poles, or if you are looking to upgrade from heavy, entry level poles.
