Customer Reviews

Very impressed - this thing is bright!

5.0 / 5.0

This is the third head lamp I have purchased in the last couple of years, and I wished I would have found this one sooner! I have a Streamlight version that uses three of the smaller aaa batteries contained in the lighting unit itself. It didn't put out enough light and the batteries didn't last that long. I then bought a Black Diamond version that uses four of the larger aa batteries in a little compartment at the back. The trouble was that it only had two light bulbs. One led and one regular looking bulb. It didn't put out enough light! This new Princeton light has four leds surrounding a one monster 3 watt bulb. There are two buttons on the bottom - one controls the four leds and the other is for the center led. I put this one and looked in the mirror during daylight and it hurt my eyes! I'm still seeing spots! I plan on using it for working around the house, under the car etc. Also for normal use, it works fine without the strap that goes over the top of your head. I see they also make a smaller/lighter version that uses lithium batteries. I like this version because I can use my rechargeable aa batteries in it

Princeton-Tec Apex 3 Headlamp_Superior Headlamp

5.0 / 5.0

The Princeton-Tec Apex 3 Headlamp has been far Superior to other, similar headlamps, I've owned. I'm an avid caver and purchased the light for that purpose. In the absolute darkness of subterranean earth nothing outperforms or outshines my headlamp...I dropped it in a puddle of water other day as well, completely submerged, took it out worked like a charm.

Excellent Product

Product worked excellently. It came with batteries and has two modes which both work beautifully. The LEDs are surprisingly bright and I am pleased with the product.

Outstanding Headlamp

5.0 / 5.0

I purchased this headlamp about a year ago. I was looking for an all purpose headlamp for Adventure Racing and after much comparing and analyzing, decided this to be a very good option. Boy was I right!! This headlamp had seen me through 24hr and 48 hour races flawlessly. It allows for easy switching between wide angle light (4 perimeter LED's - high or low) and the high powered 3watt spot light (high - low), which allows you to preserve battery life for the entire night. It throws so much light that there is no need for your teammate to turn on their lamp during trek times, thus allowing you to carry fewer spare batts and saving precious weight. The one con, would be that it is a tad heaveir than some other lights. However, if you take into consideratoin the fact that you need fewer spare batts than other High output lamps and you get more light than with other Low output lamps, I would say this lights only minor drawback is hardly worth mentioning. I have this bad boy slated for 2 more 24hr races and a 60hr race this season and I am sure that I will be nothing but pleased.

More uses than I thought

5.0 / 5.0

I bought a headlamp because of the need to do some seismic retrofitting in a dark and cramped crawlspace. It turns out it has other uses, like walking home at night (yes, one could be accused of looking geeky walking with a headlamp on a suburban street, but this is Seattle; we are not afraid), and would be a great bike light if there were a good way to attach it to my helmet. It is also great for reading in bed without disturbing anyone. Finally, it is great for doing fine work on a bench, around the house, and working on the car. Beats the built-in LEDs on my drill-driver and other tools by many Lumens. Unlike LED lights that rely on a cluster of 5 or 7 bulbs, this one actually has quite a throw.

I have used rechargeable NIMH AAs exclusively and two sets will get one through eight hours of work. I like the warning blinks it gives as the batteries reach the end of their charge.

[...]

Finally, it is durable, water tight, and comes with a great warranty (which, because of solid construction, may just be superfluous).

All in all, perhaps the most useful tool bought this year.

20 Unique Holiday Gifts

For those of you who despise “typical holiday gifts” like multi-tools and candle sets, I’ve listed a bunch of stuff from my favorite sites that are not typical gifts. You can be sure there wont be any dupes under the tree with this stuff.   Spoon Sisters has a ton of really cool (and ingenius) things. They also organize their gifts by things like Hostess, College and Our Friend Fred (for those people you don’t know very well but want to get something really neat).  The ‘Edge’ Brownie Pan, for th

Street Judgment, good or bad? Tips on employment.

Homes for Heroes is looking for some help. What kind of help you ask? Well it is simple really. We have a long list and since it is the Christmas season, a list seems appropriate. As you look through the list you will see that we are not going after big buck items mostly volunteer time to get the word out.
