Customer Reviews
Broke on first use. cheap plastic hinge supports all your weight

I really wanted this hammock. I live in an RV and cannot ever find a couple of good trees that are big enough and the right distance apart in campgrounds to hook up a regular hammock in, so this looked great. I checked the reviews and it seemed that this was the best. I asked for and received it as a gift. I took it home, unwrapped it and set it up. It is heavier than expected but very simple to set up. I gently sat down on it and without even having half my weight on it the plastic hinge with the hook that holds the hammock(look at the pictures) snapped right off. . The weight limit stated in the directions is 250 pounds but I weigh only 200. I cannot recommend this item at all to anyone for any reason. Check the Discovery store web site for other poor reviews that tell of many problems with the fabric of the hammock. Since Discovery is a third party retailer I now can only get a gift certificate to their store after returning (at my expense) this heavy useless thing.
Nice piece of equipment

I almost bought another well known brand but luckily found my way to the Discovery first. Very solidly built hammock. Hey! ...it can also can occasionally be used as a clothes hanger system around the campsite by stringing one of those rubber hanger cords between the hammock hooks! From out of the carry bag to up and swinging is very fast; the same thought for putting it away. g
Not to sure. . . .

My husband was excited with his new hammock for Father's Day. We took it along on a picnic. First he used it, then my daughter used it, then I finally had my turn. When I sat down in it we heard a crack. The plastic hinge/hook at the top of the frame broke. (I weigh about half the 250-pound maximum.) The next morning I called Discovery and the customer service rep wasn't very helpful. She wanted me to send it back at my expense and they would look it over to see if I would qualify for a replacement. When I told her that wasn't acceptable, she said she would have a supervisor call me, which didn't happen. I called again the next day, and that rep said to send it back and she would get another one to us in the mail. It arrived in 2 days, and our shipping was reversed on the return. We haven't used the new one, and I'm a little apprehensive about it--it looks good, is easy to assemble, fairly light weight, but was that faulty plastic hinge thingy a fluke? Or will this one break in the first few minutes, too? And which customer service rep will I have to deal with if it does?
Great hammock - gald I found this one!

I looked at all hammocks I could find before making this purchase, and am confident I picked the one I should have. I started by looking in the stores, but all I could find there were the hammock stands that had a bar at each end of the hammock, rather than a ring. I prefer the rings because of the way the hammock wraps around you, and the genuine "hammock sway" you get as it swings back and forth. (The bars at each end tend to make the hammock lay flatter.) The stand sets up in no time, and is easily transportable in the included backpack. I am already bringing this hammock camping, out by my pool deck, in the back yard... and have even set it up in the family room a couple times to watch movies! : ) A great guy!!
Good? yes! Great? Yet to be seen.

I am definitely happy so far that I purchased the hammock. It is easy to set up and take down by myself (average height female) Once the frame is pulled out there are 4 pins to insert and then you hang the hammock. The first time it was a little difficult to stretch the hammock to reach the end hooks, but after two uses it wasn't a problem. Taking it down means unhooking the hammock, pulling the 4 pins and pushing the frame back into its "accordian" shape. The carry pack is convenient--but 22lbs doesn't feel as light as I expected--but not so heavy that I can't make it from the house to the beach on vacation. There is significant sway when getting up or sitting down, but a little practice makes it easier to get in and out (someone suggested putting the first foot down next to or even inside the frame when getting up and that works). It hasn't had anyone tall or heavy in it so I can't speak to how well it works with bigger people. The mesh is definitely nice in the heat, I am very glad I didn't choose an all fabric model. My biggest complaint isn't with the hammock but what didn't come with it. The book holder, cup holder, and inflatable pillow are in the description but weren't in my package, I have contacted Discovery and hope this is worked out soon.
