Customer Reviews

started out good

1.0 / 5.0

When we first bought the netting, we loved the idea. It kept the bugs out. It was somewhat easy to put up. Of course there is a but. We found we had to take down the netting whenever it would rain. We forgot a couple of times and it finally ripped the material of the unbrella. So all in all it was a good idea, not a good product.

SO-SO Umbrella net

2.0 / 5.0

Ok, idea is great but for lack of material or not for a 9' umbrella as stated.
Like another user, the net did NOT reach the deck surface properly. If I had a smaller umbrella ( an 8' or 7' ) it would have been fine.( BTW, noticed in ad picture they closed the umbrella a little bit to make the net perfect on the floor )
I spent about a 1/2 hour adjusting the net to fit proper to no avail. When I pulled on one side, it just lifted the other ( there was really no more give in the elastic top ring ).
So, if you have a 7' or 8' umbrella it will more than likely work ok, but not for a 9' as in the ad.
Quality of materials not the issue, just the lack of lenght!

Pleasantly surprised

When i first began to assemble the hoop at the bottom of the net I found it a bit tedius, but as I became more familiar with the process i was more successful. Two people could do it more easily: one to push the hoop though and one to bend it to the shape of the bottom hem. That would prevent it from getting hung up due to the circular path it had to take.

Once put together, however, this turned out to be a great value in my opinion. The net is sturdy, and the design is very reliable. Staked down, weighted down, the net is very secure, even during windstorms. The netting itself, endured a rosebush's thorns slammed into it by a nor'easter. I carefully plucked the thorns out of the net and was pleased to see no holes at all.

Very happy with this product.

Great Idea; POOR EXECUTION!!!

1.0 / 5.0

What a great idea we thought as we unpacked the box and anxiously set up the mosquito net for our new 9ft. patio umbrella. Ummm,..but wait...something is wrong here. This will serve as a great mini skirt for the umbrella, but that's about it. As it dangled about 2ft from the ground we thought, "surely they didn't think that this was going to keep the bugs away." Maybe it's for tall bugs to keep out, but the short ones will fly or walk right under the huge gaping gap under the net!!!! After inserting the rods around the base of the umbrella, it still hung about 2ft from the ground. Now it really looked like a mini skirt. Ok,...how about the sleeves for the weights...well,..just after looking at a couple of them with some pressure behind them,..the umbrella was stressing badly. OK,..SO THAT was a bad idea too.

The package states this is supposed to work on umbrellas up to 11 ft. Are you kidding me?!!! This one would barely work for 7ft. Now I'm stuck with this stupid monstrosity.

Oh,..another added bonus in this feat of engineering,...whenever you close the umbrella,...there goes the net. Nice. Why not make a simple loop that loops over the top of the umbrella to keep it from falling off when closing the umbrella for the night?? I would have loved to have been present in the boardroom when they called this product "ready for market". I would have had to excuse myself from laughing hysterically at the brain trusts behind the makings of this one.

The idea is great. Really it is,...but they fell way short on the execution.

Great idea that works

4.0 / 5.0

This is a wonderful idea that works, the zipper is easy to man and it is very durable. Now we put ours on the deck, tiny problem, little too big for the deck. So make sure you have a deck big enough, but it still works great, just the sides could be a little tighter. Only problem was the ring at the bottom, its tons of little plastic rods. Just get help and have lots of patience. Thats the only downfall. I wish they had just given weights or you could fill it with water.

Eat to Live

I just had the worst energy bar. I don't know why I still buy this crap. I've heard that you're better off hauling Snickers bars than the overpriced REI food so I decided to find out. Mark Twight ( soooo dreamy) suggests consuming 200 Cal per hour while mountaineering in order to replenish depleted glycogen stores and avoid hitting the wall. Ideally 60-70% of this should come from carbs and the remainder from fat and protein. Here's the breakdown: Snickers Weight: 58.7g 280 Cal 14g

20 Unique Holiday Gifts

For those of you who despise “typical holiday gifts” like multi-tools and candle sets, I’ve listed a bunch of stuff from my favorite sites that are not typical gifts. You can be sure there wont be any dupes under the tree with this stuff.   Spoon Sisters has a ton of really cool (and ingenius) things. They also organize their gifts by things like Hostess, College and Our Friend Fred (for those people you don’t know very well but want to get something really neat).  The ‘Edge’ Brownie Pan, for th
