Description

Canyoneering, trail running, and approaches to climbs often involve precise foot placement and a desire to feel the terrain underfoot. The Chaco Z/2 sandal provides this added level of performance with a toe loop strap configuration that wraps around the big toe as tightly or loosely as desired. A strap still wraps over the entire forefoot but the addition of a toe loop gives the user that extra measure of control. The Chaco Z/2 men's sandal comes equipped with a Vibram Unaweep sole, capitalizing on Vibram's industry leading ability to build durable, high traction outsoles for hiking footwear worldwide. Of the many features that make all Chaco performance sandals, not just the Chaco Z/2's, the gold standard for outdoor professionals, the BioCentric footbed contour is among the most special. Carrying the seal of acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association, this supportive underfoot platform encourages the foot to roll through the stride in a neutral position, keeping pronation to a healthy minimum. The Chaco Z/2 sandal's BioCentric footbed also offers a sculpted heel cup that stabilizes the heel and concentrates the fatty pad in the heel to aid its inherent natural cushioning ability.

Chaco's are the best

5.0 / 5.0

I have not stopped wearing them. I walk a lot from my university to my house and they have been an excellent buy. I cannot wait to try them on a nice hike!

Chacos are superb. The Z2 has superior control for hiking.

5.0 / 5.0

I'm a rave for the Chaco Z1 - the king of comfort. If you're trying to really get somewhere you'll appreciate the control the extra toe loop the Z2 gives you. The Z1's open toe are is lovely and non-restricting for lounging around and casual strolls, but can slip around a bit when climbing or torquing.

Either way - Chacos are the best: After years with Tevas I have Chacos a try. I'm a true believer. Chacos rule for 3 reasons:

1) Amazing sculpted footbed. Chacos have real arch and heel support - probably the best of any shoe I own.

2) Awesome Vibram soles. The soles are tough as nails and truly trail grade - like a pair of top notch hiking boots. There are lots of sole options on Chacos - and all are excellent.

3) Superb strap arrangements. The lightweight easy to clean Chaco strap design is quick and easy to fit, superbly comfortable, and is the easiest to get into and out of of any sandal. There's no hardware (like Teva's plastic join rings). There is only one single cinch to tighten or loosen getting in and out. You initially adjust fit by pulling the straps tighter or looser through the rubber footbed. It's easy and once your done the straps stay put.

The whole thing is so lightweight and non-intrusive on your feet - almost like being barefoot - except for the amazing lug soles and superb supporting footbed. Highest recommendation.

Caveats? The aggressive diamond pattern on the footbed gives great grip - but it can hurt tenderfeet when the shoe is new (it wears down to comfort after a week or two). If it's hurts you too much you can sand it down a little. Also, the deeply sculpted foodbed design is not for folks EE or wider. I have E width and just barely work. Normal width is only width offered. I wear a 14 and am delighted they make up to size 14.

For those of you who despise “typical holiday gifts” like multi-tools and candle sets, I’ve listed a bunch of stuff from my favorite sites that are not typical gifts. They also organize their gifts by things like Hostess, College and Our Friend Fred (for those people you don’t know very well but want to get something really neat).  The ‘Edge’ Brownie Pan, for th
