Customer Reviews

not a good cooler

1.0 / 5.0

I had bought this product at Wal-Mart last year. It worked great while we where on a camping vacation. We used it for 4 camping trips. This season it does not chill it freeze's up. one of my friend bought one as well and he has the opposite problem. His cooler freeze's everything. This product from what I have read is very unreliable and would not purchase another one. I am looking for a cooler at this time.

Coleman PowerChill Cooler

4.0 / 5.0

This is the second one I've owned. the first one had a plug that detached which was handy when carrying it around. It would also reverse to use as a heater. I used that feature only once when taking some hot food to a party. I just got back from 2 weeks in Colorado and this item worked perfectly. We load it up with frozen items and they stay frozen for days (this is just a cooler, not a freezer). It must be the thermal mass. We drive around with it plugged into the Tahoe during the day and then plug it into the camper at night. We unplug it when we go to bed. The camper battery will run it all night but just barely. the new ones don't come with a converter so that you can plug them into 120v. I just used the converter that came with the old one. Perfect for its intended purpose.

This is colemans version of a thermoelectric product. I have purchased 2 these in the past months. They have some sort of defect with the wiring, causing the plugin to over heat and melt. The last one I returned to the place of purchase and the sales rep said that they get at least 1 returned a week and expects a recall on them in the near future. I will never buy this product again......

Bad product

This is colemans 07 version of this product. I have purchased 2 these in the past 2 months. They have some sort of defect with the wiring, causing the plugin to over heat and melt. The last one I returned to the place of purchase and the sales rep said that they get at least 1 returned a week and expects a recall on them in the near future. I have been using coleman for nearly ten years for traveling and this is the first disappointment.

Great Little Fridge for the Car but Big

4.0 / 5.0

We've had the cooler for about 6 years now and it has served us well. Especially on long trips with and without kids. It does take up a large amount of room in the car though, especially when cargo space is at a premium when travelling with children. We're searching for a bit smaller version for our next road trip.

Video: Hike-To In The Eastern Sierras

Here’s a great video of a group hiking to “earn their turns” in the Eastern Sierras. Love the fact that these guys camped out in the middle of the road overnight. The snow doesn’t look great but hey, who’s complaining when you can get out early or late in the season to a secluded place of your own and make fresh tracks, however thin… Backcountry Snowboarding California from Ray Ellis on Vimeo.
